The Grand Finale Traverse (Senaru to Sembalun)
Experience the ultimate Mount Rinjani expedition with our unique reverse traverse. This 4-Day, 3-Night journey starts in the lush, shaded rainforests of Senaru and builds up to a spectacular climax: a sunrise summit push on your final morning.
By starting in Senaru, you get to enjoy the healing natural hot springs and the stunning Segara Anak Lake early in your trek. This route offers a fantastic buildup of scenery, taking you from dense tropical jungles to sweeping volcanic calderas, and finally to the top of Lombok at 3,726 meters. It is the perfect choice for strong hikers who want to save the ultimate challenge—the summit—for the grand finale.
The Grand Finale Summit: Conquer the 3,726m peak on your final morning for an emotional, triumphant sunrise over the Wallace Line.
Tropical Jungle Ascent: Begin your trek in the cool, shaded canopy of the Senaru rainforest, home to rare black ebony leaf monkeys.
Double Rim Camping: Experience completely different panoramic views by camping on both the Senaru Crater Rim (famous for sunsets) and the Sembalun Crater Rim (the summit basecamp).
Lakeside Relaxation: Spend a full afternoon and night inside the caldera by the turquoise waters of Segara Anak Lake.
Aik Kalak Hot Springs: Rejuvenate your muscles in the volcanic hot springs before tackling the hardest parts of the climb.
Wherever you arrive in Lombok (Airport, Kuta, Senggigi, or the Gili Islands), the Hans Lombok Trekking team will pick you up and drive you to your accommodation in Senaru Village. You will meet your guide for a full gear check and trek briefing to ensure you are completely prepared for the days ahead.
07:00 AM: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel in Senaru.

04:30 PM: Arrive at the Plawangan Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m). Relax as your team sets up camp.
06:00 PM: Enjoy one of the best sunsets in Indonesia, looking out over the lake, the active Mount Baru Jari volcano, and Bali in the distance. Settle in for a warm dinner and a good night’s sleep.
06:30 AM: Wake up to a gorgeous sunrise and enjoy a hot breakfast.
08:00 AM: Begin the 2 to 2.5-hour descent into the massive Rinjani caldera. The rocky trail offers magnificent, unobstructed views of the lake.
